The Federico Santa María Technical University will start the third version of its Applied Technologies Diploma in Green Hydrogen, whose classes will take place in the evening and in zoom mode.
The objective of the program is to provide the tools and knowledge that allow participants to understand and manage the elements of the green hydrogen value chain, such as the production, storage, transportation and use of the resource, including the use of new technologies, factors hydrogen market and regulatory and normative aspects, which facilitate the management and operation of systems around green hydrogen.
The program includes 8 modules and 120 teaching hours, and is aimed at all specialties related to the world of hydrogen with at least two years of work experience, such as public sector professionals, decision makers around hydrogen initiatives and Supervisors of energy installations.
“As USM, we have led initiatives related to the generation and use of hydrogen that are very relevant to the country in recent months, such as the Mining Electromobility program through fuel cells, the FIC solar hydrogen generation project, together with the University of Atacama and the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, and participation in work groups to explore public policy for the use of hydrogen in the country. This leadership in the matter, plus our educational role and the need to prepare the professionals who will have to implement this technology within their organizations, is what motivates us to develop this new program”, explains Dr. Patricio Valdivia, academic and director of the Diploma.
Of a multidisciplinary nature, the diploma includes presentations by academics from the USM Departments of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Chemical and Environmental Engineering, along with specialists from Fraunhofer Chile and the Chilean Hydrogen Association (H2 Chile). Among the modules to be discussed are: production and storage of green hydrogen, hydrogen as an energy vector in mining processes, use of hydrogen in thermal processes, fuel cells, green hydrogen market and regulation around this resource.
