The PhD in Electrical Engineering postgraduate study program is a cutting-edge initiative, supported by the Department of Electrical Engineering and internationally recognized. This program is designed to lead technological advancement in the electrical field, focusing on areas of great relevance such as Energy Conversion and Development of High Power Electrotechnologies, Operation and Control of Electrical Systems, as well as Planning, Market Design and Regulation.”

General Objective:

To train researchers in the areas of Energy Conversion and Development of High Power Electrotechnologies, Operation and Control of Electrical Systems, and Planning, Market Design and Regulation of the electrical sector. Researchers will develop original high-level scientific or technological knowledge, at the frontier of the same, with scientific rigor and analytical capacity, independent and original, and that contributes to its application in the field of Electrical Engineering.

Specific Objectives:

1. To promote research in the area of Electrical Engineering and its applications, developing innovative solutions.
2. To develop, in students, competencies for the generation of knowledge and innovative solutions in the field of Electrical Engineering Sciences.

El graduado/a del programa de Doctorado en Ingeniería Eléctrica cuenta con una sólida formación científica y tecnológica, que le permite crear conocimiento y aportar significativamente en investigación y desarrollo. Realiza investigación original, de manera individual y en colaboración, en al menos una de las áreas del Programa definidas.

This program is aimed at:

• Postgraduate students of the Department of Electrical Engineering of the Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María who wish to articulate their Master’s degree with a Doctorate to strengthen their academic training.
• Graduates of master’s degree programs from other specialties or universities who intend to obtain advanced training in one of the areas declared in this doctoral program.
• Professionals with a bachelor’s degree in science or equivalent, and with demonstrable experience in research, innovation or development in areas related to the Program.

The applicant must have knowledge of Basic Sciences and Engineering Sciences at a level that allows him/her to successfully work in one of the areas related to the Program; together with this, he/she must show interest in scientific development and in one of the Program’s areas of specialization. The applicant must have self-learning and communication skills and be willing to join interdisciplinary work groups. Likewise, he/she must have communicative skills in a second language that will allow him/her to integrate into intercultural scientific work groups.
